Groundwater resources protection is considered a critical component for safeguarding the long- term sustainability of the La Habra Groundwater Basin. The La Habra GSA has continued to sustainably manage groundwater resources within the La Habra Groundwater Basin. Groundwater production over the past five years has been within the safe yield of the basin. Accordingly, no undesirable effects have been observed within the La Habra-Brea Management Area. As the City of La Habra (or City) currently depends on local groundwater to meet approximately 40 percent of its water consumption, preserving the sustainability of the La Habra Groundwater Basin is essential for the well-being of the City. Currently (and historically), the City of La Habra manages (and has managed) the La Habra Groundwater Basin through management plans and programs for groundwater levels, basin storage, and water quality.
